First Baptist Church in Lynchburg has announced that Phillip Barnett has accepted the call to serve as church’s pastor. Barnett and his wife Pam have three married children and seven grandchildren.
Phillip has served churches in Tennessee and Kentucky. He has a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University; a master’s in Christian Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.; and a doctorate in Expository Preaching from Trinity Seminary, Newburg, Ind.
Bro Phillip’s life mission statement is “Loving God Loving People by helping people take their next step toward Christ … together.” One of the verses that drives him is found in Psalm 71:18: “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.”
