Lynchburg Nursing Center recently achieved Gold rehab standard in parent company Life Care Centers of America’s 111-point quality audit, company officials have announced.

Each Life Care building undergoes an annual audit of its core rehab program, assessing how the team works with other departments to provide a cohesive plan of care, according to Ann Lewis, rehab services manager at Lynchburg Nursing Center.

Auditors (regional rehab associates with Life Care) score the rehab teams on four key areas — environment, human resources, clinical programming and systems management.

Facilities that achieve Gold standard are shown to have a strong, stable therapy team that is eligible to develop a specialty program based on the community’s needs.

“Our rehab specialists deliver state-of-the-art rehabilitation with Gold-level consistency,” said Lewis. “The therapists (physical, occupational and speech) treat patients with a passion for their best outcomes.”

Lewis shared that the facility already offers specialties in orthopedic rehab (such as joint replacement recovery), swallowing therapy, wound care and dementia care. Associates are also working to add myofascial release and lymphedema rehab to the offerings soon.

Lynchburg Nursing Center, located at 40 Nursing Home Road, is one of 25 rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers in Tennessee operated or managed by Life Care Centers of America.

Founded in 1976, Life Care is a nationwide health care company. With headquarters in Cleveland, Tenn., Life Care operates or manages more than 220 nursing, post-acute and Alzheimer’s centers in 28 states.
