Lynchburg native gets home makeover

Posted on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:08 am

A former Lynchburg resident will have her living space featured in an upcoming episode of Mega Dens.

In each episode of Mega Dens, host and interior designer Anitra Mecadon creates over-the-top rec-room sanctuaries while giving viewers the skills to renovate their own family space. These room renovations feature incredible home theaters, innovative gaming areas, clever storage solutions and more. Anitra’s rock ‘n’ roll approach to design transforms these rooms beyond the homeowners’ wildest imaginations.

With their third child on the way, Reid and Adrienne are quickly outgrowing their cramped older home. With the help of Anitra and her team, the couple’s home is transformed into a modern marvel.

The living room gets a recessed TV that’s hidden behind a mirror when it’s turned off, an electric fireplace that changes colors with LED lighting and a “built-in” camouflage for the unsightly laundry room door. A handcrafted table made from rare olivewood and an antique feed trough becomes the dining room centerpiece, along with hidden storage and a keg refrigerator for Dad. All of that, plus kitchen upgrades make this a Mega Den that will keep on growing right along with this family.

Adrienne is a 1996 graduate of MCHS and a former Miss Lynchburg. She and her husband Reid had their third child, Nola, after filming the show.

The episode is scheduled to air seven different times, July 22 at 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., July 29 at 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m., August 2 at 8 a.m. and August 22 at 7 p.m. It will air on the DIY Network. Check with your television provider for the channel number. After it airs on TV, the episode will be available to view on the DIY Network website.
