Historic Lynchburg’s annual Spring in the Hollow takes place on Saturday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Square and Wiseman Park will be filled with plants, food, crafts, music, fancy umbrellas and vintage quilts.
From 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., there will be a display of Moore County quilts in the IBIS Building, organized and monitored by the Moore County Family Community and Education (FCE) clubs. If you wish to display a quilt, you may bring it Friday, April 27, between 12 and 3 p.m. or Saturday morning before 9 a.m. Call Dianna Milner at 759-6828 for more information or to arrange for a quilt pick-up. There will also be quilting items for sale as well as quilt patterned stained glass. A collection of antique sewing machines will also be on display.
Southern Belles love a pretty parasol (umbrella) parade. Participants can win a prize in one of three categories: adult, child or animal. Bring your best creation at 9:30 a.m. to the sponsoring business, Cow Patties, behind the Lynchburg Drugstore.
The Moore County FCE Council is sponsoring a cake-baking contest. Find a sponsor for $25 and bring the fee and the cake to the Moore County Library between 8 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28. Judging will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Ribbons will be awarded in 10 categories and for the Best of Show. The bakers get the honors, the sponsors get the cakes and the money goes to support numerous FCE county projects. Call Eileen Horton at (931) 433-0075 for more information. There is no pre-registration necessary.
As always at Spring in the Hollow, there will be the much anticipated plant and garden vendors all around the Square. A Plant and Garden Auction will be held in front of the Lynchburg Drugstore at 10:30 a.m. Featured at this year’s auction will be unique birdhouses, many of them locally decorated. Come early to get a number and bring a chair.
Visit Crafts by the Creek in Wiseman Park for a wide array of juried crafts and other vendors. Craft and plant vendors should call Candy Richard at (931) 433-8461 after 6 p.m. to reserve a spot.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the Gazebo will be the location for music and clogging. Spring in the Hollow t-shirts will be available the day of the event.
Spring in the Hollow is sponsored by the Moore County Chamber of Commerce. The event supports local businesses and non-profit organizations and raises money for student scholarships and other activities. For more information or a vendor application, go to www.lynchburgtn.com.
