Moore County Middle School has finished its character education program for the 2012-13 school year. In this program, a different character trait was emphasized each month and a student who represents that character trait was chosen by teachers each week. Then a student is chosen from those students as the MCMS Student of the Month.

For May, the trait was “Citizenship.” Middle school officials are happy to announce the final Student of the Month for this school year is Lucas Waller.

Waller is the 14-year-old son of Perry and Sue Waller. His hobbies are trap shooting, video games and wilderness survival. His favorite phrase is “Do you even lift?”

He says his favorite food is anything that comes from an animal.  Lucas says to “take a look at me and see that I am patriotic to the bone. Ask anybody about it, and they will say I am as patriotic as Paul Revere.”

Lucas shows good citizenship in many ways. He helps put up the flag in front of the school each morning and cooperates with the morning pledge. He always takes part in any activity for the school, especially dressing up for homecoming days. He does what he is suppose to do and thinks about what is right and wrong. He shows concern for other students.

He received a goodie bag with lots of items including coupons from Lynchburg Drug Store, Hardees, Arby’s, Sonic, Subway, Domino’s Pizza, Dairy Queen, Bowling, Krystal, Taco Bell, Woodard’s and Iron Kettle.

He also received a free ice cream from the cafeteria and a certificate of recognition. Look for his name on the sign in front of the school.
