During Monday’s regular meeting of the Metropolitan Moore County Council, chairman Coleman March announced that Linda S. Wolaver has resigned her position as a commissioner from the 4th District. Wolaver was not present at Monday’s meeting.
March read Wolaver’s letter of resignation aloud to the council. He said it was effective immediately and gave no reason for Wolaver’s sudden departure from the council.
Anyone interested in filling the now-vacant 4th District seat should contact Metro Mayor Sloan Stewart at the county courthouse. The council will attempt to appoint a replacement at its February meeting.
The replacement’s term would run through August. At that time the seat will be up for re-election. Anyone interested in running for the seat in August must apply and fill out the proper election paperwork by April 3 with Judy Copeland, the local Administrator of Elections.
Copeland may be reached at (931) 759-4532.
Wolaver was appointed to the 4th District seat on March 19, 2012, replacing Karl Pyrdom at that time.
