As if the recent schedule has not been challenging enough, the Motlow Lady Bucks will host the defending national champion junior college softball team this weekend for a four game series at the softball complex in Moore County.
The Lady Bucks (10-19, 8-13) are in the middle of their toughest schedule stretch of the season, facing nationally ranked teams for 10 consecutive games. That stretch will finally conclude when Chattanooga State (26-10, 17-5) visits for Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders. Saturday’s action is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and Sunday the first pitch is noon.
The TCCAA conference doubleheaders against the Lady Tigers were originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but expected severe weather forced the rescheduling to Saturday and Sunday.
Motlow was scheduled to play a pair of games in Fyffe, Ala., on Thursday against the nation’s seventh ranked team Wallace State, but impending weather forced the cancellation of those contests. No makeup date has been announced.
The Lady Bucks are currently sixth in the TCCAA standings, while Chattanooga State is third. Only the top four teams qualify for the TCCAA tournament, which begins May 3 at Volunteer State in Gallatin.
