Web Exclusive — The Motlow Lady Bucks have released their 2012 softball schedule as they prepare to begin their initial season under new head coach Tori Raby-Gentry.

The season opens on Feb. 29 with a trip to Boaz, Alabama to face Snead State. On Mar. 2 and Mar. 3 Motlow will be in Hanceville, Alabama to participate in the Wallace State Tournament. The tournament consistently features some of the nation’s top teams, including the hosts who enter the season ranked 14th in the nation by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

The Lady Bucks will play their first home contest on Wednesday, Mar. 7 when they host Lindsey Wilson College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at the softball complex on the main Motlow campus in Moore County. Wallace State visits the following day.

Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) play begins on Mar. 23 with a six-game road trip, including stops at Columbia State on the 23rd, Jackson State on Mar. 24, and Walters State in Morristown on Mar. 27. The first home conference game is Mar. 31 when Roane State visits.

All scheduled play dates are doubleheaders and all home games are scheduled to begin at either 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. Defending state champion Volunteer State will visit the softball complex on Apr. 13, while perennial powerhouse Chattanooga State, ranked 11th in the preseason national poll, comes to Lynchburg Apr. 10.

The Lady Bucks are ranked fourth in the state in the NJCAA preseason rankings behind Chattanooga State, Walters State, and Cleveland State. Admission is free to all Motlow College athletic events, and a concession stand will be open for all home games.
