Motlow (10-9, 4-7) is hoping to recover from last weekend, when they traveled to southeast Tennessee and dropped a pair of conference games. The Lady Bucks fell to Chattanooga State 76-66 last Friday, then dropped a 75-57 decision to Cleveland State Saturday.

This coming weekend the competition only gets more difficult. On Friday, the Walters State Lady Senators (22-0, 11-0) come to town, ranked No. 11 in the nation and sitting at the top of the TCCAA standings. Saturday is Homecoming at Motlow with Roane State (15-7, 10-1) as the opposition. The Lady Raiders are in second place in the TCCAA. Friday’s Lady Bucks’ game tips at approximately 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday the women start at 4 p.m.

Against Chattanooga State the Lady Bucks started strong, leading 12-7 at the end of the first quarter and 34-20 at the half. However, fouls began to pile up for Motlow in the second half, and the home team ended up connecting on 29-38 free throws while the Lady Bucks only shot 15 and made seven.

Ajaycia Cotton led Motlow with 15 points, Sydney Floyd scored 13, Taylor Hayes had 11 and Aja Robertson scored 10.

On Saturday in Cleveland the Lady Bucks trailed only 31-26 at halftime before once again free throws began to lean heavily toward the home team. The Lady Cougars hit 22-29 from the charity stripe, while Motlow connected on 12-17. Floyd led the Lady Bucks with 18 points, Robertson had 12, Cotton scored 11 and Makayla Liles added 10.
