LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Jury selection in the trial of a Moore County man arrested last year and charged with four counts of rape began Tuesday morning in Lynchburg.
Randy Cleek, 51, of 703 Leon Clifton Rd., Shelbyville, was indicted by the July 2013 term of the grand jury in Moore County, a month after being named in a four-count indictment issued by the grand jury in Lynchburg.
The grand jury indicted him on charges of rape of a child, aggravated rape and recklessly engaging in sexual contact with the girl.
According to the indictments, during the summer of 2003, Cleek had sexual conduct with a child between the age of 3 and 13.
The indictment also alleges that Cleek caused bodily injury to the child during the sexual incident.
Cleek was booked into the Moore County Jail on July 26, 2013 on a bond of $25,000.
According to Moore County Sheriff’s Department investigator Mike Rainey, Cleek’s arrest was part of an ongoing investigation that dated back to August 2011.
According to a copy of the charged filed, the incidents occurred in the summer of 2003.
