Motlow College’s Moore County campus will celebrate its seventh annual International Festival on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Festival activities will be held in the Marcum Technology Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Jeannie Brown, coordinator of International Education at Motlow, orchestrates this event in order to help recognize the role that differing cultural perspectives play in shaping world events and to educate others about the world around them. The Study Abroad program at Motlow also benefits from the many displays.
“We have worked hard to create a global village through internationalizing our curriculum and our campus at Motlow College because our students will compete in an international marketplace,” said Brown. “If our students can easily relate to people from other nations and cultures, they will lead more successful lives.”
Many clubs, programs, and departments will participate in the International Festival. Booths will be set up in Marcum to give participants information regarding the country that each has chosen. Each booth will present several facts about the group’s country and cuisine samples that are native to their specific country.
Countries scheduled to be featured during the festival are China, England, Greece, Ireland, Italy, South Africa and Spain. Other countries that could be represented include France, Brazil, Japan, India and Turkey.
