The smoky smell of barbecue is a sure-fire sign that the Lynchburg holiday season will be here before you know it. Elves are already hard at work, planning two great events to be enjoyed by locals and tourists.
The Holiday Kick-off will be Saturday, Nov. 16. Since Thanksgiving and “Black Friday” are a week later than usual, this will give shoppers a chance to get a head start in a pleasant atmosphere with unique merchandise. In addition, their business will be a boost to the local economy.
The theme this year is a Christmas Stocking.
By visiting participating merchants, patrons can qualify for a 2013 Collectible Ornament and also register to win a Christmas stocking stuffed with gifts, valued at $400.
The Annual Tour of Homes, benefiting the Old Jail Museum, will feature five destinations. Tickets will be on sale at the Old Jail for $15.
Saturday, Dec. 7 will be the traditional Christmas in Lynchburg celebration. Visitors can have pictures made with Santa, enjoy the Flat Creek Contra Dancers and the Christmas Parade. A total of $400 in prize money is available for parade participants. The Jack Daniels Distillery will host a bottle signing and will end the day with the annual lighting of the Barrel Tree.
You can find more information and full schedules of these events in upcoming issues of the Moore County News or at <www.lynchburgtn.com>.
