Frontier Days to hold Arts Exhibition

Posted on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 9:52 am

Similar to a County Fair, each year at Frontier Days, Moore County residents have an opportunity to exhibit their skills in a large number of categories. The exhibit is sponsored by Moore County fce, but any Moore County resident can participate. Exhibit categories include basketry, bead-work, all types of hand and machine stitching, painting and drawing, toys, photography, pottery, sculpture, weaving, woodcarving, leatherwork, canned goods, cookies, candy, breads, floral arrangements and more. The Cultural Arts Exhibit is held at the Moore County Library. Check-in time will be Wednesday, June 21 from 2 to 5 pm and Thursday, June 22 from 8 to 11 am. Items will be judged on Thursday, June 22 at noon. 4-H entries will be judged separately. Small cash prizes and ribbons are awarded and will be handed out when the items are picked up on Monday, June 26 between 9 am and 4 pm. The Exhibit will be open to the public during Frontier Days, Friday, June 23 from 9 am until 5 pm and Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. until noon. The guidelines for food entries are as follows: Canned goods must be in regulation canning jars with properly sealed lids and bands. Canned goods will be judged solely on appearance and will not be opened. Other food items will be judged on appearance and taste. A complete list of categories can be picked up in the County Building Extension Office. Members of fce can also find a list in their Yearbook. First and second place winners in Category I can advance to the Regional, and possibly the State, competition if they are members of fce.
