Free hunting day is Saturday

Posted on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 12:24 pm

If you ever wanted to introduce a youth or another adult to hunting, this Saturday is the day to do so. Tennessee holds a free hunting day similar to the free fishing day in June. Moreover, free hunting day coincides with the opening of squirrel season in the state. The daily bag limit is 10.

Be aware that hunter education regulations remain in effect. If you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1969, you must possess proof of successful completion of a hunter education class before hunting in Tennessee.

Those under 10 years of age do not need a Hunter Education certificate, but must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years of age, who must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device.
