Adams, Franklin Delano “Pete,” 81, of Lynchburg, passed from this life on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at his home. He was born March 13, 1933 in Lynchburg, the son of the late Jack Tankersley and Bertha Adams. He was very proud of his 40 years of service in the US Army and National Guard. He served two tours of duty in the Korean War, two tours of duty in Vietnam and a tour of duty in Desert Storm. In addition to his military service, he worked for Fushi Copperweld as a fabricator for 21 years. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Shariann Beatrice (Arnold) Adams; brothers, Orville Tankersley, Thomas Earl Tankersley, Jay Tankersley and Houston Tankersley; and sisters, Anna Ruth Lewis and Elizabeth Smith. Surviving are sons, Daryl (Lisa) Adams of Tullahoma, Shawn (Crystal) Adams of Lynchburg, and Kyle (Sarah Locke) Adams of Shelbyville; daughter, Miranda (Tracey) Harmon of Petersburg; sisters, Nellie Harris of Tullahoma, Linda Hodge of Lewisburg, Margaret Weddington of Winchester, and Ruby Larson of Ohio; grandchildren, Candice Keebaugh, Ammon Keebaugh, J.T. Keebaugh, Donnie Keebaugh, Megan Keebaugh, Shelby Harmon, Katey Harmon, Kaleb Locke, Clayton Adams, Trace Harmon, Dale Adams, Zoey Locke and Chase Adams; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 21 in the Jennings Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Allen Black officiating. Interment with military honors followed in Hurricane Cemetery in Tullahoma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Cub Scout Pack #365.
