Fall Creek Falls hosts star-gazing weekend

Posted on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:26 am

Pikeville – Fall Creek Falls exists as one of the most beautiful protected areas in Tennessee.

A paradise of more than 20,000 acres sprawled across the eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau, Fall Creek Falls State Park is one of the most scenic and spectacular outdoor recreation areas in America. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams, and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest.

On July 20-21, park goers can turn to the skies to view the park’s beauty from a different perspective with the Astronomy Weekend hosted by the Cumberland Astronomical Society. Groups will discuss constellations, lunar lore and the brightest star … the sun and view the night’s sky from a telescope (weather permitting).

Fall Creek Falls is located 40 miles south of Cookeville and 65 miles north of Chattanooga atop the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau.
