Moore County Middle School is continuing its character education program. In this program a different character trait is emphasized each month and a student who represents that character trait each week is selected by teachers.

Then a student is chosen from those students as the Student of the Month. For the month of February, the trait has been self-control. School officials announced that the Student of the Month is Erin Simmons.

Erin is the 13-year-old daughter of Terri and Eddie Simmons. She has a little brother named Ethan and three dogs. She plays alto saxophone in the middle school band.

When she gets older she would like to be an architect, licensed contractor or a professional saxophonist. In her free time she likes to watch TV, play with her dogs and browse the Internet.

Erin shows self-control by always being prepared for class and listening to and following directions. She works well on her own or with a team. She is pleasant to be around and kind and considerate to others.

She received a goodie bag with lots of items including coupons from Lynchburg Drug Store, Hardee’s, Arby’s, Sonic, Subway, Domino’s Pizza, Dairy Queen, bowling, Krystal, Taco Bell, Woodard’s and the Iron Kettle. She also received a free ice cream from the cafeteria, a free homework pass and a certificate of recognition.

Look for her name on the sign in front of the school.
