DERVEL DYE

Dye, Dervel, 73, of Lynchburg, passed away at his residence on February 11, 2013. He was born on Dec. 15, 1939, in Madison County, Ala., the second child of Elmer and Aline Dye. He moved to Lynchburg, Tenn., at an early age and worked at Jack Daniel’s Distillery for more than 40 years until his retirement in 2011. He was a long-time member of Head of Hurricane Baptist Church. Dervel enjoyed farming and was an avid “Crimson Tide” football fan. Dervel was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, James Dye. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Dye; two sons, Brent Dye and his wife Brenda, and Bruce Dye and his wife Jennifer, all of Lynchburg; and one daughter, Brooke Hickerson and her husband Chris of Tullahoma; grandchildren Brittany Hartman and her husband Chad of Tullahoma, Bridgett Dye of Huntsville, Ala., Bradley Dye of Lynchburg, Cassie Wright and her husband Ian, Autumn Meeks and her husband Shane of Lynchburg; Jayton North, Macy Stewart, Kamryn Hickerson of Tullahoma; great-grandchildren Andie Wright of Lynchburg and Jada Ann Hartman of Tullahoma; one brother Alex Dye and his wife Linda; and two sisters, Doris Bohanan and Bonnie Dye; sister-in-law Freda Dye, all of Lynchburg; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends on Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Lynchburg Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m., with Bro. Eddie Canady and Bro. Jason Sells officiating. Burial will follow at the Head of Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery in Moore County.
