The 2017 MCHS Football Raiders are to be congratulated for their accomplishments this year. The run to the state playoffs capped off a great season for the Raiders and second year Coach Jason Dobbs. The seniors on the team exhibited strong leadership and all players put forth a selfless team effort. Even though the Raiders lost in the second round of the state playoffs, they fought hard and left their mark on the top ranked team in the state. The loss closes out a special season that the players and fans hoped would never end. This year’s team included many top performers including Coy Cashion who joined the elite club of high school running backs who have rushed for more than 1000 yards in a season. Cashion also scored 90 touchdown points and 22 kicking points. The 2017 Raiders accomplished many things: finished second in the District with an excellent record of 8-4, won a game in the TSSAA State playoffs, and defeated district rivals for the first time in several years. While the entire County wishes the Raiders were continuing in the playoffs, our team represented us proudly for the entire season. As a fan and supporter, please join me in recognizing the players, managers, trainers, coaches, cheerleaders, and band for a wonderful season. It’s hard to say it any better than that. Congratulations to the 2017 Raiders on an amazing run.
