Jonathan Aldridge wanted a dog for Christmas. He apparently got a best friend as well.

Bo, a gorgeous white and brindle colored 18-month old American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix belonging to Jonathan Aldridge of Lynchburg placed second in the Christmas in Lynchburg Dog/Critter Christmas Costume Contest. After Jonathan’s parents promised him a dog for Christmas, Jonathan looked for a shelter/foster dog and eventually found Bo online.

“Bo had been abused, and Jonathan fell in love with him the moment he discovered him,” said IBIS owner Barbara Patten, who is one of the biggest supporters of the local Friends of Animals Rescue and Adoption Center. “(Jonathan) and his parents adopted him Thanksgiving weekend. Bo is now Jonathan’s best friend.

“(This) is such a heart-warming story that the boy and his dog really deserve to be front and center as the quintessential Christmas in Lynchburg story. There is no better Christmas story than that of a boy and his dog.”
