Benefit planned for boy battling cancer

Community members are planning a benefit lunch for Alex Rodriguez on Sunday, March 18 from 1-3 p.m. at the Charity Baptist Church located at 129 Bagley Hollow Road just off Highway 129.

Alex has been battling a rare form of cancer since he was seven-years-old. He’s endured surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and experimental treatments. According to benefit organizers, doctors recently informed young Alex that the treatments were not working, so he and his family made the difficult decision to stop them so that Alex could focus on spending time with his family.

The menu for the benefit lunch includes chili, stew, cornbread, pork BBQ sandwich and a homemade dessert.

If you’d like to help Alex but cannot attend the benefit, you may mail a donation to the church at 129 Bagley Hollow Road, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
