The Metro Lynchburg Moore County Beer Board convened Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 17, to hear two requests for new beer licenses.
Both were approved by a 3-0 vote of Board President Buford Jennings and members Amy R. Cashion and Mark Watkins, serving at his first meeting after replacing Tommy Brown, who resigned.
Approved was an 0ff-premises only request from Terry Wayne Harris Jr., operating as Ryan’s Ridge Top Market, 1624 Shelbyville Highway, Petersburg. Harris of Moore County intends to operate a convenience/gas store there. He still has some zoning and building permits to get accomplished but is hoping for a spring opening for his business, which he has said is greatly needed in the area because there aren’t any of that nature now.
Also approved was an on- and off-premises license request from Bar-B-Que Caboose on the Historic Square.
The next beer board meeting will be Monday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Building. Scheduled to be considered is a requests from Vicki D. Gurganious, operating Piper’s, at 20 Hiles Street on the Historic Square.
