Community Playhouse presents Guys and Dolls

Tullahoma – The cast is set and rehearsals are now underway for the Broadway musical Guys and Dolls. This show is the final production of the 2011-2012 season for the Community Playhouse, Inc. Performances are scheduled for June 28-July 1 and will be held in the Tullahoma High School auditorium.

Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, this oddball romantic comedy – considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy – soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends in the canon: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight “mission doll,” out to reform the evildoers of Time Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact that she’s been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game. Memorable songs from the show include: “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” “I’ll Know,” “I’ve Never Been In Love Like This,” and many others that audiences will be singing after viewing the show.

Directors Janet Patterson and Rosie Graham assembled a cast of men and women who will bring this story to life on the stage and a production crew that will provide the supporting roles backstage to make this production work smoothly.

Cast members include: Samantha Terrell (Manchester) in the role of Sarah Brown, Jacob Gray (Tullahoma) as Sky Masterson, Lindsey Slaughter (Shelbyville) as Adelaide, James Ericson (Tullahoma) as Nathan Detroit, Jim Zidan (Tullahoma) as Nicely-Nicely Johnson, Mike Sneed (Tullahoma) as Benny Southstreet, Todd Nichols (Tullahoma) as Rusty Charlie, Wayne Stephens (Manchester) as Harry the Horse, John Wright (Manchester) as Big Jule, David Clark (Tullahoma) as Angie the Ox, and Allen Craig (Tullahoma) as Detective Brannigan. Other Gamblers/Crapshooters are played by Jake Dyer (Tullahoma), Josh Wilson (Manchester), Jacob Shelton (Tullahoma), Keith Wortham (Shelbyville), Cameron Davis (Tullahoma) and Glendale Swann (Tullahoma).
