More than 135 participants have registered for the Moore County Mud Run scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at 319 Skyview Ln, Lynchburg. The run is a fundraiser for the MCHS girls’ varsity basketball team to help pay expenses during the 2017-18 school year/ basketball seasons. The Mud Run is being hosted by parents of the MCHS girls’ varsity basketball team. The race route includes approximately 18-20 obstacles to overcome along the 3.1 Mile course, most of which contain water and mud. Although none of the obstacles are impossible, they do require a certain level of strength and fitness. Obstacles can be taken at any pace or skipped completely and thus the course is able to be completed by most anyone. The obstacles include names like The Gates, Hay Bales, Slip and Slide, The Ladder and The Cliff. A mystery obstacle, that promises a true athletic test, will not be revealed until the competitors reach that point in the race. The race route crosses Mulberry creek several times including part of the run follows the creek to ensure everybody gets wet. At each obstacle competitors will be required to complete several “Burpees.” The Burpee is a strenuous exercise combining a squat, plank, push-up and is finished with an explosive jump with arms straight overhead. Registration for competitors will be open the day of run (7:30 – 8:30 a.m.). However a savings of $15 off the $45 per person for those who pre-register. Individual flights at 9:00 a.m. sharp with team flights immediately following.
