With second place in the District and a guaranteed home playoff game secured, the MCHS Raiders lost their last regular season game Friday night to Mount Pleasant 41-32. Without a lot to gain, the Raiders fought to come away with a victory but made uncharacteristic mistakes that provided momentum to the Tigers. With a driving rain and extremely cold conditions, the Raiders fumbled twice and had an interception. Despite the turnovers, the Raiders offense had success moving the ball against the Tigers rushing for 284 yards in the game. Matthew Schuller completed one pass for 59 yards to Coy Cashion that resulted in a touchdown. Dylan Knight was the leading rusher for the Raiders gaining 151 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. Cashion had 59 yards rushing on 16 carries and two rushing touchdowns. Nate Love rushed for 45 yards on 5 carries. The Raiders defense struggled to stop the Tigers senior running back Tai Pillow. Pillow was responsible for a majority of the Tiger offense carrying the ball 25 times gaining over 200 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns. Pillow had touchdown runs of 58 and 73 yards. The Tigers played an inspired game believing that they could win a spot in the playoffs with a victory over the Raiders. However, Grace Christian upset Fayetteville City to gain the last District playoff spot. The Raiders finish the regular season with a record of 7-3 and will host the Collinwood Trojans in the first round of the Tennessee High School Football Playoffs. Collinwood has a 6-4 record and finished in third place in Region 6. Mount Pleasant is the only common opponent who defeated Collinwood 42-7 early in the season.
